Amy
Amy
song by Yorushika (n-buna, suis)
One more time, putting it into words Two beats ring out from my guitar Three more verses of lyrics written down A fourth summer will come around I’ve got one thing to talk about, full of misunderstandings, though it seems to be too late1 In the six-tatami mat room in my head, I’m right there, living alongside you What we want to forget, what we don’t understand, they all belong to us All while we believe there’ll be an end to this long night Come on, life may seem stupid all around, But just by looking at the drifting white clouds My imagination is tracing you out now And there you are, always in that summer Decades of rushing through life Only with things that could never be forgiven Even the view of life I’ve penned in lyrics Turns to nothing but simple letters Even words are consumables And memories can only go so far down Waiting in vain for something to happen, the crepe myrtle flowers bloom Just like this, look Just like this, in some faraway land, while we’re wandering through the cracks of a pale summer Come on, I may have written about you all my life, but like a habit of speech I’d never forget My imagination is tracing the paper now And there you are, always at the tips of my fingers もういいよ That’s enough さぁもういいかい、この歌で最後だから 何も言わないままでも 人生なんて終わるものなのさ いいから歌え、もう Come on, are we done here? With this song, it’ll all be over So even if you don’t say anything Life is something that ends It’s alright now, so just sing already Come on, life may seem stupid all around, But just by looking at the drifting white clouds My imagination is tracing me out now And there you are, always in that summer
Notes: 1 The first few lines of the song count from one to six, but the fifth line is a bit different. “Five” in Japanese is 五 (go) and while all the other numbers actually written, the fifth line, instead of using the number 五 (go), uses a word that begins with “go,” which is 誤解 gokai (misunderstanding). For the translation, I chose to start the line with a word that sounds like “five” but actually is not.
SONG INFO Album: Elma (2019) Track 12
n-buna: "This song is the last one that Elma wrote on her journey. It is a piece that expresses Elma as a person. This is the only place in the diary where the handwriting is different because Elma has finally stopped imitating Amy. There is a quote from the song 'Elma' that says 'just like this, in some faraway land," but this song has the role of being the one that Elma wrote herself when she first wanted to make her own music."
